Memory Book Fun
Today you are about to enter memory book fun. Here are some examples: first day of school, halloween party, mini society, study buddys, hawaiian csap party, and chautaqua park. those are the names of are memory book pages. We do a memory book so that in the future we can look back and see what fun things we did and because we can show are kids what they might do. Second, we are working on new memory book pages ( what ever we want to write.) With the new pages we get to write any fun event that we want. we also get the choice to type it or write it. Last of all we are going to have conferences. This isn't just another parent techer conference, it actually a celabration for the end of 4th grade! Getting ready for the conferences was hard, can you imagine your desk piled high with green, red, and black binders and yellow and blue notebooks along with folders, books, and a hole bunch of pencils. We do these conferences to show are parents what we do every day( and they got to try some mountain math.) Also to show well we growed with math, reading, s.s, science, and writing. All in all that is a lot of memory book fun.

The W in Writing
By Anna and Jayden
The W in writing really came out when we started summarizing articles into 4-5 sentences. We have been using transition and conclusion words to help us. The conclusion words help us in the wrap up of the summary. The order of the summary goes like this: topic sentence, details, and wrap up. The W in writing will help us write summaries in the future. So far, the W in writing has taught us a lot.

Patterns in Writing
Written by: Riley and Parker
This week we learned about Shel Silverstein and how he rhymes in his poems. This helps us learn about him as a poet. Also we learned how to write and talk like an animal using "I", me", and "myself". We read Desert Voices, by Byrd Baylor to help us. We also read a book called Everything Reptile. Its chapter titles were questions that kids had asked the author when she was visiting that school. One of the chapter titles was "Can snakes kill themselves with their own poison?" It helped us learn about non-fiction writing.

Between all of the questions buzzing about, there was still room in our notebooks for memories to write about. Our writing notebooks have been like volcanoes exploding! Some of the unusual questions were “How many teeth do you have?” and “Would you rather be a bird or a lion?” These questions will help us come up with writing ideas for the future. We are all learning how to write, write, write!
